Forres Pre-Preparatory School, Cape Town- New Classrooms - completed 2003
Our architectural involvement with this school spanned over a period of 5 years. The school wanted to upgrade their existing facilities and we were briefed to redesign the existing classrooms, ablution facilities and adding new classrooms.
We love the emphasis that the school places on design and our design aimed to have a minimal impact on the areas that were working, whilst resolving conflicts in the areas that were under-utilised. Construction work with little children around posed some interesting challenges. We addressed these by having impromptu interactive site meetings with the children present. They asked their questions, gave their suggestions and the project team accommodated and incorporated these as best they could.
